Citizen Sessions on the Future of Refuse Collection in Aberdeen

Event Date:
Thursday, September 10, 2020 (All day)

For several months, city staff have been actively researching various options to maintain the best possible refuse collection service in the most cost effective manner. Last June, the Department of Public Works (DPW) presented various scenarios to the City Council, acknowledging that the current collection model is not sustainable over the long term. Council will meet again later this September to discuss. While absolutely no decisions have been made, the general consensus is to have a decision before the start of fiscal year 2022 (July of next year).

We would like to invite you to hear and discuss where we are and solicit your thoughts and feedback before the session with Council. With that in mind, we would like to invite you to what we are calling the “Citizen Sessions on the Future of Refuse Collection in Aberdeen.”

Two sessions are planned for Thursday, 10 September, in the Council Chambers of City Hall (60 North Parke Street). The first is Thursday, September 10th at 1PM; the second is on the 10th at 6PM. We expect each session will be approximately one-hour long and light refreshments will be provided.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic altering nearly every aspect of our daily lives, it is crucial that we require face coverings whilst in the Council Chambers. Chairs will be positioned in such a manner that allows for social distancing and the max capacity for each session will be 58.
