Running for Office

Candidate Packets Available at City Hall Starting Tuesday, August 1, 2023

The Candidate Packet contains the information, forms, and rules regarding the election process. Please take time to carefully review the campaign materials and deadlines. Once you have received this packet and filed for a position, you will be responsible and accountable for upholding these rules and regulations.

The next City Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The Mayor and all four Council seats are up for election.

Candidate Packets will be available: August 1, 2023 - September 15, 2023. This packet contains mandatory filing paperwork as well as an optional Notice of Candidacy Intent Declaration form.

A Candidate Packet may be picked up at the Finance Department front desk or from the City Clerk during normal City Hall operating hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

FILING FOR THE ELECTION: The completed candidacy paperwork must be filed, in person, with the City Clerk between Tuesday, September 5 through Friday, September 15 during regular operating hours. The City Clerk will accept no filing after 5 PM sharp on September 15.

An appointment with the City Clerk is recommended  to avoid any inconvenience. Call 410-272-1600, extension 211 or email [email protected].

Do not send any forms electronically.

A "Notice of Candidacy Intent Declaration" is an optional form for any person who intends to solicit or receive contributions, incur expenses or loan funds to the person's campaign ("campaign finance activity") before filing as a candidate in the election. Once completed, the Notice of Candidacy Intent Declaration may be dropped off at the Finance Department front desk for the City Clerk's mailbox. This is the only form that may be dropped off. If this form is used, an additional financial report is required by September 1, 2023. More information on this subject is found in the Candidate Packet.
