Aberdeen Tartan Design Competition

Create a Tartan Design for Aberdeen

Friday, January 15, 2021 (All day) to Monday, February 15, 2021 (All day)

Aberdeen wants to adopt a tartan for our City, and you can help us!

 ..."A tartan is a traditional Scottish cloth pattern of stripes in different colors and widths that cross each other to form squares...."

Did you know that Aberdeen is named after it's mother city Aberdeen, Scotland?  That's right!  Our city's founders hailed from Scotland and families in Scotland were often identified by their tartan colors and design (plaid). Our all -America city of Aberdeen has decided to make our very own so please join us in this family friendly competition!


Entry rules:

1. You must be a resident or business of Aberdeen to submit a design. 

2. Fill out an entry form and submit to the Main Street Coordinator.

3. Tartans may have up to five (5) colors.

4. Contestants will go to the following link to create their design (https://tartandesigner.com/)

  • You must register on the website to be included in the contest

  • Include ABER as a prefix when register.

5. After creating your design save to the website.

6. Contest will run from January 15, 2021 through February 15th, 2021.

Applications will be available effective January 11, 2021

The winning design will be featured in our Main Street area on banners and possibly a painted crosswalk.  We encourage you to go to the website and familiarize yourself with how it works and begin your design.
