EDC Rules and Regulations

The Economic Development Commission is an advisory board to the Mayor and City Council. 

Duties:

  1. Identify and promote economic development in the City of Aberdeen.
  2. Support and encourage the growth and retention of existing businesses and industries.
  3. Support and encourage the location of new industry and residential development within and around the City of Aberdeen.
  4. Review proposed and existing legislative and policy decisions of the Mayor and City Council and to study their impact on economic development.
  5. Recommend financial incentives and/or financing methods that will foster economic development.
  6. Cooperate and work with other government agencies involved with economic development.
  7. Conduct studies and surveys as deemed desirable by the Mayor and City Council.
  8. Support and encourage conventions and tourism beneficial to the City of Aberdeen and greater Aberdeen area.
  9. Work with existing community enterprises to identify problems which inhibit economic growth.
  10.  Make recommendations that generally will enhance economic growth when desirable and feasible to do so.
