Election Information

This year’s municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Aberdeen Activity Center, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to elect persons for the Office of Mayor and four Council seats.  The term of office for Mayor will be four years and starting with the 2023 election, Council members shall be elected to staggered terms. The two candidates for Council who receive the highest number of votes each shall be elected for a term of four years, and the remaining candidates shall be elected for an initial term of two years. At the election to be held in November, 2025, the two candidates for Council receiving the highest number of votes each shall be elected for terms of four years.

Voter Information

The Charter of the City of Aberdeen states that: a person is a qualified voter of the City and eligible to vote in a City election if that person: is a citizen of the United States; is at least 18 years of age; is a resident of the State of Maryland; is a resident within the corporate limits of the City for at least 21 consecutive days immediately preceding the election; is registered with the Harford County Board of Elections at an address located within the corporate limits of the City; is otherwise qualified under the Constitution and laws of the State of Maryland; and is not registered to vote in another state.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Charter of the City of Aberdeen relating to elections, in order for a City resident to vote in the Aberdeen Municipal Election, the voter must remain registered with the Harford County Board of Elections. Voter registration applications are available online at www.harfordvotes.gov or by clicking here. Forms are also available for pick up at the Harford County Board of Elections, 133 Industry Lane, Forest Hill, MD, 21050 or at Aberdeen City Hall, 60 North Parke Street, Aberdeen, MD, 21001 in the lobby. Deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 5 PM.

Absentee Ballot Applications

Absentee ballot applications are available at www.harfordvotes.gov or by clicking here. Deadline for receipt of absentee ballot applications by the Harford County Board of Elections is Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 5 PM by mail or by fax (410) 638-3310 at 11:59 PM. After October 31, 2023, emergency absentee ballot applications must be obtained, in person, at the Harford County Board of Elections.
