Current City Projects

Current projects that are contracted or conducted by the City of Aberdeen Department of Public Works are listed below.

Aberdeen Hills Waterline Replacements

This project consists of the replacement of 3,600 linear feet of water main, including 12 valves, 3 fire hydrants, and 81 complete water service laterals in the vicinity of Andrews Road and Bernice Terrace. The existing cast iron waterline has a high amount of tuberculation and corrosion which affects water quality and system performance. The project is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2026.

I-95 Elevated Water Tank

This project consists of the complete construction of a 600,000 gallon elevated steel spheroid water storage tank (water tower) on Technology Drive, installation of yard piping and connection to an existing water main to support development on the west side of I-95. This project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026.

Lead and Copper Rule (Compliance Services)

The project consists of research, verification, and reporting activities to meet EPA & MDE compliance deadlines regarding the City’s Water Service Line Inventory. The initial inventory was submitted, and City crews are currently working to identify water service line materials throughout the water utility system. This phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2027.

Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program

This project consists of ongoing City-wide inspection, repair, and rehabilitation of sanitary sewer assets. Routine sewer maintenance operations have identified sewer mains, laterals, and manholes throughout the sewer utility system require rehabilitation, by way of cured in place liner, to correct defects that cause backups, overflows, inflow, and infiltration. This contract year's scope is on schedule for completion by June 30th 2026.

Street Resurfacing and Sidewalk Repair Program

The project consists of repaving city owned and/or maintained streets and repair/replace sections of concrete curb, aprons, and sidewalk. In its third contract year, the scope will be completed by June 30th 2026.

Swan Meadows Utility Improvements

This project consists of the replacement of the water and sewer systems in the Swan Meadows area including approximately 10,000 feet of water pipe, 9,000 feet of sewer pipe, and 300 lateral replacements for both water and sewer services. The project is in preliminary stages, estimated completion by 2028.
