NOTICE OF ADOPTION

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-06

DEVELOPMENT CODE REVISION FOR ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS

On September 28, 2026, the Mayor and City Council adopted Ordinance No. 26-O-06, Development Code Revision for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), which revises the City of Aberdeen Chapter 235 Development Code to authorize and regulate ADUs on lots with an owner-occupied single-family detached dwelling, consistent with State of Maryland requirements.

This Ordinance will become effective on October 19, 2026. A copy of the Ordinance is available for public inspection at Aberdeen City Hall, 60 North Parke Street, Aberdeen Maryland, 21001 and on the City’s website at www.aberdeenmd.gov.

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-07

CHAPTER 302 GROWTH MANAGEMENT REVISION

On September 28, 2026, the Mayor and City Council adopted Ordinance No. 26-O-07, Chapter 302 Growth Management Revision. The Ordinance amends the City of Aberdeen Growth Management to exempt accessory dwelling units (ADUs) from residential development adequacy standards, including school capacity requirements, consistent with State of Maryland requirements.

This Ordinance will become effective on October 19, 2026. A copy of the Ordinance is available for public inspection at Aberdeen City Hall, 60 North Parke Street, Aberdeen Maryland, 21001 and on the City’s website at www.aberdeenmd.gov.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-08

CHAPTER A550 FEES REVISION

On September 28, 2026, the Mayor and City Council adopted Ordinance No. 26-O-08, Fees Revision. The Ordinance amends Chapter A550 Fees of the Code of the City of Aberdeen to exempt accessory dwelling units (ADUs) from water area connection and sanitary sewer area connection charges and, subject to certain conditions, from water meter charges.

This Ordinance will become effective on October 19, 2026. A copy of the Ordinance is available for public inspection at Aberdeen City Hall, 60 North Parke Street, Aberdeen Maryland, 21001 and on the City’s website at www.aberdeenmd.gov.
