BOARD OF APPEALS HEARING

The Aberdeen Board of Appeals will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. and the public hearing will be held in the Aberdeen City Council Chambers, 60 N. Parke Street, Aberdeen, MD 21001. The Aberdeen Board of Appeals will be hearing the following case:

Case #819 Applicants – Sheppards of Care LLC are requesting a Special Exception to operate an assisted living facility at 435 Edmund Street, Aberdeen in a R-2 Medium Density Residential District.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend the Board of Appeals public hearing on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

City Council Notice of Public Hearings:

THE CITY OF ABERDEEN

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-06

DEVELOPMENT CODE REVISION FOR ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS

The Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing at Aberdeen City Hall, Council Chambers, 60 North Parke Street, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7 p.m.,  for the purpose of considering Ordinance No. 26-O-06, Development Code Revision – accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The ordinance would revise the City of Aberdeen Chapter 235 Development Code to authorize and regulate ADUs on lots with an owner-occupied single-family detached dwelling, consistent with State of Maryland requirements. The revisions address ADU definitions, permitted locations, establish applicable lot, setback, floor-area, parking, accessory-structure standards, and make related amendments to the City’s zoning districts and Table of Use Regulations.

Copies of this Ordinance will be available at City Hall and on the City website, www.aberdeenmd.gov.  Residents are encouraged to provide written or verbal comments.  Special accommodation by request with advance notice.

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-07

CHAPTER 302 GROWTH MANAGEMENT REVISION

The Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing at Aberdeen City Hall, Council Chambers, 60 North Parke Street, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7 p.m., for the purpose of considering Ordinance No. 26-O-07, Chapter 302 Growth Management Revision. The ordinance would amend the City of Aberdeen Growth Management to exempt accessory dwelling units (ADUs) from residential development adequacy standards, including school capacity requirements, consistent with State of Maryland requirements.

ORDINANCE NO. 26-O-08

CHAPTER A550 FEES REVISION

The Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing at Aberdeen City Hall, Council Chambers, 60 North Parke Street, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7 p.m., for the purpose of considering Ordinance No. 26-O-08, Fees Revision. The ordinance would amend the City of Aberdeen Chapter A550 Fee Schedule to exempt accessory dwelling units (ADUs) from water area connection, water meter, and sanitary sewer area connection charges.
