Main Street Urban Design Plan
The City of Aberdeen in conjunction with the Mahan Rykiel is working on an urban design plan that will identify opportunities to create a sense of place, enhance the pedestrian environment, and promote investment within the downtown.
The scope of the plan includes:
- Physical improvements related to public spaces and gathering spaces, particularly areas that would connect Festival Square to West Bel Air Avenue, areas that front publicly-owned real estate, and other areas as indicated in the attached map.
- Recommendations on improvements to publicly owned surface parking lots on Walnut Alley
- Recommendations on strategic public investment that would bridge development from Festival Square to West Bel Air Avenue
- Façade before and after views for two properties that either are interested in making improvements and those that the Main Street/City want to pursue
- Rough estimates of the proposed improvement
If you have comments regarding the Urban Design Plan, please contact Ms. Vickie Horne, Main Street Coordinator.
